I set up Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Family initially for my family and friends. My goal was to develop gluten-free and dairy-free recipes that not only looked homemade but also tasted amazing. Today our aim is to make our gluten free dairy free food taste fresh, homemade, and scrumptious every time, and to inspire others to also cook delicious food at home. Living with gluten intolerance for 30 years has been challenging, and discovering intolerances to other foods has been equally difficult. However, I have learned to take care of my health by consuming the right food and living a healthy lifestyle, despite living with several autoimmune diseases, including Lupus, Sjogren’s, and Raynaud’s. To help others achieve their personal health goals, I decided to become a Health Coach and Certified Gluten-Free Practitioner. I specialise in helping people with autoimmune diseases and gluten intolerances. It brings me great joy to use my experience and knowledge to motivate others and make a positive impact on their lives.

Living a Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free Lifestyle: Our Family's Journey
For many families, food allergies or intolerances can be a considerable challenge. Meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking can all become much more complicated when you need to avoid certain ingredients. For families who live gluten-free and dairy-free, this can be especially true.
Living a gluten-free and dairy-free lifestyle has become our way of life. I have been a coeliac for over 25 years, but our online journey began when I discovered that two of our children were experiencing issues that were related to gluten and dairy. Then, I decided to use my knowledge and voice to create and share gluten free and dairy free information and recipes and help others live this lifestyle. It was time to make a change.
Today, I'm a Health Coach, and my knowledge of living gluten-free and dairy-free has enabled me to share some of the challenges we have faced as individuals and as a family and some of the benefits we have experienced.
One of my biggest challenges was learning how to cook and bake all our favourite foods without gluten and dairy. I had to change how I approached meal planning and grocery shopping ultimately. I quickly realized that many of the foods my family had been eating regularly contained gluten and dairy, and now I had to convince them to try the gluten-free and dairy-free substitutes for those foods!
I soon discovered I could create many delicious gluten-free and dairy-free options at home. I experimented with different flours, such as almond flour and coconut flour, and found that I could still bake bread, muffins, and other treats that tasted great. I also discovered a wide variety of dairy-free milk alternatives, such as almond milk and oat milk, that could be used in place of cow's milk. Today I share these gluten free and dairy free recipes with you.
Another challenge we have as a family is eating out. I quickly learned that many restaurants don't have gluten-free or dairy-free options on their menus, and those that do, often don't think about catering for children!
This has improved greatly over the years, and most restaurants are willing to accommodate special requests if they are made in advance. I constantly research restaurants before going out to eat to find ones that had gluten-free and dairy-free options, and if it's a day trip, I ensure we have snacks on hand in my bag so that we don't go hungry!
Despite the challenges, we have found that living gluten-free and dairy-free has many benefits. We all feel better overall and have fewer digestive issues and less inflammation. The children have also discovered new foods and flavours they might not have tried otherwise. We have also found that living this lifestyle has brought us closer as a family, as we work together to plan and prepare meals.
After years of experimenting and creating our own recipes, we decided as a family to start a website to share our knowledge and recipes with others who are also living a gluten-free and dairy-free lifestyle. Our website features various recipes, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert options. It also includes helpful tips and tricks for living a gluten-free and dairy-free lifestyle.
If you are considering living gluten-free and dairy-free, our family's experience may be helpful to you. While there are certainly challenges, this lifestyle has many benefits. With some research, experimentation, and planning, you can find delicious and satisfying gluten-free and dairy-free options that work for you and your family.
