Dairy Free Chocolate Easter Eggs
It was during Covid that I started making my own Easter Eggs again. Living in Hong Kong, you couldn’t find vegan chocolate let alone Easter Eggs easily and I couldn’t let my children have no Easter Eggs!
Making your own chocolate Easter egg can be a fun and rewarding experience. Not only do you get to enjoy the process of creating something from scratch, but you also get to customize your egg with your favourite flavours and decorations.
This is not quite a recipe but a post on how to create your Easter Eggs!
To start, you must gather your ingredients, including chocolate, a mould (I still prefer to use one from the 1970s!), and any additional fillings you want to add, such as nuts or candy.
You can use our recipe online to make your chocolate for the egg or melt your favourite in a double boiler or in the microwave.
Once it's melted, pour the chocolate into the mould, coating the entire surface.
Then, place the mould into the fridge or freezer to set.
You may need to repeat this process to build up the layers!
Once the chocolate has hardened, add any additional fillings you want, such as nuts or candy.
Next, melt some more chocolate and pour it over the top of the filling to seal it in.
You can also add additional decorations at this point, such as sprinkles or coloured chocolate drizzle.
Once you've finished decorating, place the mould back in the fridge or freezer to set it completely.
Once the egg is completely set, carefully remove it from the mould and wrap it in foil or decorative paper.
Your homemade chocolate Easter egg is now ready to be enjoyed or given as a gift to friends and family.
Not only is it a delicious treat, but it's also a great way to show off your creativity and culinary skills and make it unique for the recipient!
